Pyburn & Odom MCA has supported industrial clients in civil, civil/structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering. Civil engineering projects have included site selection and layout, design of site drainage and storm water retention ponds, and design of roads and rail spurs. Structural design has included building and machinery foundations, and marine docks and moorings. Mechanical design has included dock piping and metering systems; tank farm layout; tank farm piping, hoisting and handling systems; building design; plumbing; HVAC; and fire protection systems. Electrical engineering has included electrical load analysis, design of incoming power, transformation, distribution, and lighting. 

Pyburn & Odom MCA through the years has completed hundreds of public works and municipal projects.  Today, our multidiscipline design groups perform these services on many different types of projects for Federal, State, and local agencies, and private clients as well. 

An integral part of the firm’s total capabilities is land surveying. For over 50 years, beginning with pipeline right-of-ways and alignments, Pyburn & Odom MCA has maintained a high profile with regard to all types of land surveys and maintains a highly trained, well developed and fully equipped survey department including additional capabilities in real estate and property acquisition. Pyburn & Odom MCA is currently one of the largest surveying companies in the U.S. with contract backlogs in excess of $12,000,000.00. 

Pyburn & Odom MCA has an impressive list of completed projects in major aviation facilities located within the region. These vary in scope and nature from the design of ramps and cargo aprons to terminals, concourses, jetways, and baggage systems. Clients such as the New Orleans International Airport, the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport, the Alexandria International Airport, the Esler Regional Airport, the LADOTD, Barksdale Air Force Base, and the Naval Air Station in Belle Chasse are just a few of the local clients for whom the Pyburn & Odom MCA team has successfully worked. 

Many major docks and waterfront structures on the Mississippi River and elsewhere have been designed by Pyburn & Odom MCA. In 1993, we acquired the firm of Barnard and Thomas, Inc., a well known and established civil/marine firm. This led us to our position today as the major consultant to the Greater Baton Rouge Port (5^th largest in the USA) and other Louisiana Ports as well. 

Pyburn & Odom MCA has long been the leader in the nation for the development of technology and services in the area of hydrographic surveys. Pipeline and water crossings led the firm originally to form the Odom Offshore Company and ultimately Odom Hydrographics, to provide services in these areas, although these spin-off companies are no longer a part of Pyburn & Odom MCA. The firm’s emphasis shifted in the 80’s to inland waterways navigation and maintenance projects for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Pyburn & Odom MCA was the first to perform computerized, automated hydrographic revetment monitoring surveys along the Mississippi, Red, and Atchafalaya Rivers for the Corps of Engineers in both the New Orleans and Vicksburg Districts. Our automated hydrographic system today includes Hypack Hydrographic Software and the Odom Hydrotrack, a digital sounder with built in Global Positioning System (GPS) capable of sub-meter accuracy.  Our fleet of nine cabin survey boats meet all Coast Guard requirements and are ready to be deployed to your project.
